Primary Job Function:  
Prepare plans, specs, and design-build style estimates for mechanical systems. Assesses needs, develops and presents HVAC replacement/upgrade proposals, secures sales that are competitive and profitable, processes orders, and works with company teammates to ensure customer satisfaction. This position will work with new and existing customers to guide them through the Sales Process while exploring equipment and layout options.

  • Prepare cost estimates for HVAC systems to include ductwork, piping systems, and equipment for commercial and HVAC projects (i.e., installations, retrofits, and residential equipment options).
  • Account for labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs within estimates.
  • Review plans and specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Take off materials and provide accurate quantity surveys utilizing Estimating Software and experience
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Submit proposals to customers, finalize pricing, and complete internal setups promptly.
  • Provide positive input as to the efficiency and accuracy of all estimating programs and strategies.
  • Manage and maintain company resources in a positive and efficient manner.
  • Ensure accurate job take-offs and estimates.
  • Ensure timely follow-up with all bids and contractors.
  • Produce final bid results on all jobs, whether the job is won or not.
  • For key accounts, develop and implement sales strategy for each.
  • Ensure timely production of all project correspondence such as estimates, proposals, follow-up information, etc.
  • Provide timely and accurate updates to all bid, billing, and project status forms.
  • Assist in developing the strategies for bidding projects using the Estimating System.
  • Communicate with the Construction Project Manager/General Contractor in a timely manner all required information for the project setup from start to finish concerning goals, delivery schedules, or any job issues. 
  • Recognize potential for value engineering and other strategies that may improve opportunity for advantages over the competition.
  • Keep all bidding strategies confidential.
  • Determine if a bid invitation is the type of work that fits the company’s ability and demand.
  • Coordinate tasks/schedule with the General Contractor, other trades, subcontractors and/or vendors.
  • Communicate long lead time items that could delay any job.
  • Create and submit submittal packages.
  • Maintain job folders, files, and cut sheets as projects progress.
  • Purchase material and equipment on approved jobs in a timely manner
  • Gauge construction timelines accurately to ensure correct labor cost.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
